Through the Subsidy Scheme for Sustainability and Maintenance of Rental Homes (SVOH), landlords can receive up to €10,000 per home in subsidy for sustainability measures, or up to €15,000 if a heat pump or solar water heater is also installed. The total budget of the scheme is €152 million, of which approximately 68 percent was still available as of the end of September 2026; the scheme runs through 2029.

Who qualifies and for which measures
The SVOH is open to private landlords, commercial landlords and institutional investors in existing rental homes. There is no limit on the number of homes for which you can apply for subsidy, but there is a maximum amount per home.
Eligible measures include cavity wall, facade, roof and floor insulation, HR++ or triple glazing (the latter only in combination with a new insulating frame), energy-efficient ventilation systems, solar water heaters and heat pumps. In addition, there is subsidy for tailored advice and for specific maintenance measures such as new exterior window frames and ventilation boxes.
Budget and application order
The total SVOH budget is €152 million for the period through 2029. As of 30 September 2026, approximately €43 million had been granted and more than €5 million was pending, meaning approximately 68 percent of the budget was still available.
The order of applying for and carrying out the work depends on the subsidy amount: if you apply for less than €25,000, you carry out the work first and apply for the subsidy afterwards; at €25,000 or more, you apply for the subsidy first and only start the work afterwards.
